give you an idea of some of the problems our clients faced, how we
worked with them to resolve the problem and what outcomes we achieved for
the client.
Codeplay Software
Limited
Codeplay produces high
performance software compilers for use with specialist multi-core chip
architectures. Founded in 2001, the company originally focussed on
compilers for use by game developers working on the Sony PlayStation2™
platform.
Codeplay called in Breewood Consulting in May 2004,
when it was clear that Codeplay’s focus on the PlayStation2™ market was
not delivering business success. Initially helping to secure funds
through two major orders, we went on to prepare a complete strategic
marketing plan for Codeplay. That plan set Codeplay onto a completely
different course, addressing a different market segment and one which
properly valued the benefits that Codeplay compilers and parallel
programming tools brought to the segment.
From 2 people in 2004, Codeplay now employs 18 staff
and is growing rapidly. We remain involved with Codeplay providing
hands-on help in growing turnover and profits generated from customers
around the world, currently including the USA,
Japan, Ireland.
Andrew Richards, Managing Director of Codeplay, said
“Breewood Consulting was great in getting us going in the right direction
and giving us the confidence to deal successfully with huge corporations.
Over a series of many years, Mike has been invaluable in turning Codeplay
from a small group of techies into a company working on large contracts
with major semiconductor companies in USA,
Japan and Europe.
He is very patient and helpful dealing with
people from technical or managerial backgounds and is able to convert
complex technical issues into professional proposals suitable for both
engineers and managers, and then managing the relationship with the
customer. Without Mike, we would probably still be techies with ideas but
no customers.”

2e-volve (UK) Limited
2e-volve was founded in
2001 as a provider of IT support services, focussing on hardware and
networking support for small-to-medium sized enterprises. By 2004 the
company had secured an established base of clients and was considering
expanding into the wider market for business application software after
success in developing Point-of-Sale software for clients.
Managing Director Craig Lemmon asked Breewood
Consulting to prepare a Strategic Marketing Plan for a proposed new
software product range. With input from that plan, it became clear that
2e-volve should focus first on developing a wider channel-to-market for
its core products and services, rather than making an investment in
developing software products at that point .
That approach has paid off for 2e-volve, with turnover
doubling since 2004 and profitability increasing significantly. 2e-volve
is now ready to expand even further and is preparing to take on external
investment, helped by Breewood Consulting.
Craig Lemmon said “Breewood Consulting helped us to
recognise that we would have been taking a huge risk and worked with us
to identify a less risky route to growth. I was impressed with their
commitment to us and their practical advice. I will be using them again
as I grow this company.”

Restaurantdiary.com
Restaurantdiary.com
is a world leader in restaurant reservation system technology, helping
top restauranteurs to maximise their profits whilst managing their
relationships with their customers. Restaurantdiary is used in
prestigious restaurants in the UK,
Australia, Denmark, Norway,
Dubai and Mexico.
Restaurantdiary
was established in 2004 and called in Breewood Consulting in 2006
(following a recommendation from Craig Lemmon of 2e-volve) to run a
workshop discussing the future direction of the company. Restaurantdiary
had at that point secured 24 customers and was receiving excellent
feedback on the benefits they were realising from the system. It was
clear, however, that Restaurantdiary had to focus its efforts if it were
to succeed.
That
strategy workshop resulted in clear targeting and positioning statements
for Restaurantdiary, which meant that restaurantdiary sales and sales
prospecting resources could be used more effectively, identifying and
securing the kind of customers that could realise most benefits from the
Restaurantdiary software.
The
success of that refocused approach to the market meant that
Restaurantdiary was encouraged to consider further investment in
development of the software and, later in 2006, called in Breewood
Consulting to help prepare an application for grant funding from the
Small Company Innovation Scheme in support of that investment. Working
with the senior management of Restaurantdiary, we prepared an Investment
Proposal, a Business Plan and a Project Plan to accompany the grant
application. That application was successful, with £50,000 grant funding
secured.
During
2007, we provided Restaurantdiary with ongoing support covering many
aspects of their marketing activities, including preparation of sales
collateral, organising stands for trade exhibitions, liaising with PR advisers
helping to establish a network of international partners and advising on
links with strategic partners.
Mike
Conyers, MD of Restaurantdiary, offers this view of Breewood Consulting
“…We were recommended to use Mike by one of his existing clients and it
is advice that we’ve been very glad of. He helped us to move beyond our
initial success into really scaleable growth, here in the UK
and overseas. He has always pulled out the stops to give us what we
needed and coped with everything we threw at him, whether it was writing
a Newsletter for an Exhibition at two days notice, negotiating with an
agent in the Middle East re-writing our Business Plan or managing a
research programme with a local Business School. I am happy to recommend Breewood
Consulting and I look forward to his continued involvement in the growth
of Restaurantdiary as the world’s premier supplier of restaurant
reservation systems.”
